CRNAs' knowledge is deficient when related to potency and physiologic effects of various steroid preparations. Increased knowledge to make improved decisions related to steroid therapy to improve patient outcomes will be the outcome of this presentation.

Learning Objectives:

• Discuss the effects of supra-physiologic doses of steroids on the HPA axis.
• Describe current recommendations for peroperative coverage of steroids to minimize the potential for acute adrenal crises.
