Clinical preceptors are sometimes uncomfortable providing accurate feedback to students and are reluctant to give unfavorable written feedback. Frequently, preceptors will simply check a box and fail to support the score with written feedback. Cultivate preceptor communication skills that foster accurate written and verbal feedback to the struggling student will be discussed during this presentation.

Dr. Karen Gillikin has been a CRNA for 21 years and an Assistant Program Director at Old Dominion University for the last 8 years. Her primary responsibility is directing clinical education for the student registered nurse anesthestists. She also holds a full time clinical position at a community hospital in Hampton, VA.

Wake Forest Nurse Anesthesia Program

Devin Miller is a recent graduate of the Wake Forest Nurse Anesthesia Program, and will be starting his first job as a CRNA at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He served as the National Student Representative to the Education Committee during his senior year.
