Trauma Anesthetic Management (.5 Class A CE)

Trauma anesthesia management is unfamiliar to many CRNAs and can be challenging anesthetics for experienced CRNAs since trauma patients arrive in the OR with little or no advanced notice. Following this presentation, CRNAs managing trauma patients will be knowledgeable about the latest research in managing trauma patients including induction and maintenance of an anesthetic and preventing the lethal triad of acidosis, hypothermia, and coagulopathy.

Dawn Borth Lewellen CRNA has worked at Parkland Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center in Dallas, TX, as a CRNA for the last 20 years.
She attended Texas Wesleyan University graduating in 1990 with a Master’s in Health Science in Nurse Anesthesia.
In addition to serving as the CRNA Clinical Education Coordinator at Parkland, she serves as adjunct faculty and simulation lab instructor at Texas Wesleyan University and is pursuing her Doctorate in Nursing from Texas Christian University.
Dawn was selected as the APRN of the Year at Parkland Hospital in 2014 and was nominated as a Dallas Fort Worth Great 100 Nurse in 2016
