The workshop will provide CRNAs knowledge and hands-on practice for advanced physical assessment useful for differential diagnosis in pain management.

Diane Rowles, MS, ACNP, BC, CRRN, is a Nurse Practitioner at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, and Director of Inpatient Access. She is also an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. Diane was the Nurse Practitioner for 27 years for the Spinal Cord Injury Program at RIC. In this time, she has provided both inpatient and outpatient care, was the research coordinator for the SCI program working over 60 research studies as investigator or multisite study coordinator. She then transitioned to a role as Nurse Practitioner in the University Neurosurgery Department at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, working with a spine surgeon for 2.5 years. Currently, she is working a combined role of nurse practitioner and Director of Inpatient Acccess. Ms. Rowles has many publications and honors. She lectures internationally, nationally and locally on spinal cord injury and on sexuality after spinal cord injury. She has served as Red Cross delegate involved in Armenia for the establishment of a spinal cord injury care unit and the establishment of a 3 year curriculum for educating nurses, physical therapists and occupation therapists in spinal cord injury care. Additionally, she has served the International Rescue Committee in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the education of healthcare professionals, persons with disabilities and significant others in sexual health and reproduction following spinal cord injury. She also worked with the American Red Cross for disaster relief in New York City during the 9/11 tragedy.
