Margarita Sandino is the Director of Education at the Dixon Gallery and Gardens in Memphis, TN. Since joining in 2007, she has created over twenty five ongoing programs, increasing the size and diversity of the Dixon audience through inclusive programs, exhibitions and community events.
Margarita received her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology at Los Andes University in Bogotá. Her passion for museum education began while working as a docent at the National Museum of Colombia and grew strong as she continued her work at the Casa Museo Quinta de Bolivar in Bogotá. When Margarita arrived in the United States in 2002, she joined the Children’s Museum of Memphis where she began her efforts to connect different audiences to the museum experience. A big advocate for the Latino community, Margarita works closely with Latino community leaders and organizations to bring inspiration and resources to the growing population in Memphis. For the past ten years she has been a member of the American Alliance of Museums and is currently Chair of the Latino Network.
