Dean is a museum consultant who works with senior staff, in-house exhibit teams, boards, community stakeholders, and contract exhibition design and installation firms to create mission-driven visitor experiences using proven audience-centered, outcome-based methods honed over 35 years in the museum and public history fields.
Dean’s exhibition development and project management experience include museum team building, executive coaching, writing RFPs for design services, selecting and hiring design firms, visitor experience planning, reinterpreting collections, research and writing, and problem solving.
Among his past clients are the Albuquerque Museum, Baltimore Museum of Industry, Gallaudet University Museum, Jefferson Patterson Park Museum, Jewish Museum of Maryland, Burlington County (NJ) Historical Society, Sports Legends at Camden Yards, York County Heritage, and Historic Annapolis.
Dean is a member of Qm2, a community of consultants that includes Mary Case, Anita Durel, John Durel, and Dale Jones.
