The Newark Museum
A specialist in museum education, interpretation, and audience engagement, Michelle Moon currently serves as Director of Interpretation and Evaluation at the Newark Museum (Newark, NJ). Her work in educational leadership and interpretive planning includes past positions at the Peabody Essex Museum (Salem, MA), Strawbery Banke Museum (Portsmouth, NH), and Mystic Seaport (Mystic, CT) as well as teaching practice in both formal and experiential education. An advocate of reimagining the role of museums in society, she pursues research on the role of contemporary food issues and inclusive food history in museum interpretation, and is the author of Interpreting Food at Museums and Historic Sites (Rowman and Littlefield, 2015) and co-author (with Cathy Stanton) of Public History and the Food Movement: Adding the Missing Ingredient (Routledge, 2017). She holds a Master's degree in Museum Studies from Harvard University Extension School and a BA in English and Education from Connecticut College.
