Dr. Mark Topazian is a Professor of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, and Consultant, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Haverford College, Haverford, PA He received his MD from Yale University, New Haven, CT. In addition to being a practicing gastroenterologist and therapeutic GI endoscopist at Mayo Clinic, he is an experienced clinical researcher, and currently serves a co-PI of an NIDDK/NCI-sponsored U01 consortium investigating the nexus of pancreatitis, diabetes, and pancreatic cancer. He has carried out an NIH-sponsored clinical trial of an endoscopic intervention for obesity, and been co-investigator in multicenter collaborative studies of pancreatic cancer screening in high-risk individuals. In his clinical practice he treats patients with pancreatic masses, pancreatic cysts, known or suspected pancreatitis, IPMN, as well as well persons seeking screening for pancreatic cancer. Dr. Topazian's research interests include diagnosis of early chronic pancreatitis utilizing biomarkers in pancreatic juice, and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) in the evaluation and management of pancreatic disease.
