Lawrence R. Schiller

Lawrence R. Schiller, MD, FACG, is Program Director for the Gastroenterology Fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas. He attended Pennsylvania State University and Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia, and completed his training in internal medicine at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He then served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps for two years. Dr. Schiller moved to Texas for training in gastroenterology at UT Southwestern Medical School, then stayed on the faculty at the Medical School and was an attending physician at the Dallas VA Hospital. In 1985 he moved to Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas to continue research activities with Dr. John Fordtran and has been there ever since, lately as Program Director for the Gastroenterology Fellowship and Chair, Institutional Review Boards for Human Subject Protection. He is a Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine, Dallas campus. Dr. Schiller has been involved with patient care as a founding partner of Digestive Health Associates of Texas. He won two fellow teaching awards while at Southwestern and the Ralph Tompsett Award for Excellence in Medical Education at Baylor. Dr. Schiller is an elected fellow of the American College of Physicians, is a fellow of the ACG, and previously served as ACG President (2011-2012).
