Dr. Popov is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at New York University (NYU) School of Medicine and the Manhattan Harbor Healthcare VA Medical System. Dr. Popov has established the first active Bariatric Endoscopy Program at a Veterans hospital in the U.S. In her practice, she uses various methods to treat obesity: intragastric balloons, the Overstitch Suturing Device for endoscopic gastroplasty and treatment of weight regain after bypass and surgical sleeve gastrectomy; Aspire Assist. She collaborates closely with the bariatric surgeons at NYU Langone Medical Center to provide endoscopic treatment options for weight regain after gastric bypass, treatment of fistulas, ulcers and leaks, and primary endoscopic weight loss methods. In her practice, she offers a comprehensive management program for patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Dr. Popov is the site PI for the Spatz 3 Intragastric Balloon Pivotal Study at NYU. Dr. Popov completed a fellowship in digestive diseases at Yale New Haven Hospital, and a PhD in investigative medicine at the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in 2014. In 2013- 2014, she co-founded the Yale Center for Metabolic Health and Weight Loss, a multidisciplinary program to treat obesity. At NYU, Dr. Popov leads a Bariatric Endoscopy Research group consisting of NYU fellows, residents, and medical students, with several active research protocols and grants.
