Dr. Macedo is the Head of the Gastroenterology Department, Centro Hospitalar S.Joao, and Professor of Gastroenterology at University of Porto Medical School. He is the Director of the Porto WGO Gastroenterology and Hepatology Training Center, WGO Treasurer, and Member of the WGO Train The Trainers Committee and Liver Interest Group. Dr. Macedo is the Vice President of the Portuguese Society of Gastroenterology and is a Past President of the Portuguese Society of Endoscopy and Portuguese Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. Dr. Macedo was awarded the ACG 2015 International Leadership Award.

Dr. Joseph Lim is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Section of Digestive Diseases at Yale University, where he serves as Director of the Yale Viral Hepatitis Program. He is a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School (Chicago, IL), and completed and internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Yale University (New Haven, CT), followed by a clinical and research fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stanford University (Palo Alto, CA). In his role at the Yale Liver Center, he directs an active clinical trials program evaluating novel investigational agents for chronic hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and NASH, and serves on the national steering committee of HCV-TARGET, a large national multicenter observational cohort of patients with chronic HCV infection. He has held numerous leadership roles for the ACG, AASLD, and the AGA, and has served as Section Editor of JAMA, Senior Associate Editor of Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Open Gastroenterology, and on the editorial boards of JAMA, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Hepatology.
