Greger Lindberg received his medical degree 1978 and PhD 1982 at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. He is a specialist in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He received his post-doc training in the GI Science Research Unit at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, London and has since focused his research on structural and functional studies of gastrointestinal motility disorders. He is Professor of Gastroenterology at Karolinska University Hospital and also serves as Chairman of Theme 1 (Basic Science) on the Undergraduate Medical Programme at Karolinska Institutet. He has authored or co-authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, books and book chapters and he has supervised 5 PhD doctoral students. He currently serves as Chair of the Global Guidelines Committee of World Gastroenterology Organization.
