He is active in organized medicine, lobbying efforts both on a state and federal level, and practice management. He maintains a clinical position of Professor of Medicine with the University of Texas Healthscience Center San Antonio and is past president of the Texas County Medical Society and the Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy and the American College of Gastroenterology.
