Data Driven Leadership in Supported Employment

Supervising independent community-based employees can be difficult. One question that many new supervisors have is "How do I know they are working?" Changing the way we manage from traditional methods of oversight to more data, outcome and goal oriented methods will produce greater results in community employment programs. This session will discuss specifics concerning how to manage these staff effectively, what data to track, ideas on how to track data and how to use personal accountability to not only create higher quality and more fiscally sound programs, but to more importantly ensure that the people your program supports obtain the employment outcomes they desire. The session will also discuss how to blend qualitative and quantitative data to get a better picture of performance and to coach staff based on this data. Participants will walk away with practical advice they can immediately implement. We will also discuss how utilizing Personal Outcome Measures(R) will increase quality of services and the quality of life for the people you support.

Jennifer Quigley is a Quality Enhancement Specialist for CQL. The Council on Quality and Leadership. Jennifer has been working with people with disabilities including those with developmental disabilities, mental health diagnosis and other health-related disabilities for over 15 years. Her experience includes working with children/youth in community settings, direct support, clinical case management, foster care training, state licensing and provides senior leadership. Most recently, she worked as an Area Director, then Corporate Director of Employment and Community Life for a large multi-state provider.
Jennifer is especially passionate about community employment. She has experience training and consulting with programs and providers on successful transformation of site based day and employment services to successful community employment programs. Jennifer has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT. She is also a Certified Employment Support Specialist and a board member for Iowa APSE.

Leslie E. Stusiak-Drew

Director of Operational Support
The Council on Quality and Leadership

Leslie Stusiak-Drew serves as CQL Director of Operational Support. In her role, Leslie serves as the first point of contact for CQL inquiries and customer communication regarding accreditation needs. She also oversees CQL staff utilization of internal technology, including technical assistance, and works closely with the Director of Accreditation and Director of Training and Certification regarding CQL staff professional development needs.

Leslie has over 10 years of experience in the human services field, including work in domestic violence, mental health, children and youth, and developmental disabilities settings. This involves roles as a rape crisis advocate, direct support staff, volunteer coordinator, residential manager, case manager, and service coordinator. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD and a Master’s in Nonprofit Management from Regis University in Denver, CO.
