Fundraising in 2017 and Beyond

Thursday, November 2
11:15 AM - 12:15 PM
Location: Seabreeze

Target Audience: Executive & Board

Today our society is moving at lightning pace. Our communities are growing, careers are evolving and being created, and new businesses are formed every day. Yet in most communities the traditional approach to charity and fundraising or development continues to operate in status quo. The same could be said for the non-profit sector as a whole.

In order to ensure our existence in the future we, non-profits, must evolve with our community. While some traditional forms of fundraising will never change, our approach, the technology we use, and the mindset in which we train our board needs to match that of the rest of our society.

In this session we will review a few traditional fundraising practices that are becoming obsolete or less effective, dive into data surrounding current and future generations of donors and their trends, discuss the changing landscape of corporate donations and how to keep up, begin to redefine development as engagement, and touch on some of the new technologies that can drive the modern foundation or fundraising department.

The session is just the tip of a larger conversation about the future of fundraising in the United States and within The Arc. It will provide attendees with shared resources and both case studies and national data on the corresponding topics. At the same time it will be an opportunity for fundraising professionals, chapter executives, and board members to collaborate for a stronger multi-organizational development effort.

This session will also provide new information on emerging successful fundraising practices, offer a challenge to traditional thinking about commonplace development activities, share new technology solutions that can maximize fundraising success, and present a new approach to fundraising/engagement for our communities.
