Mary L. Gonzales

Mary Gonzales was a professional community organizer for 35 years of her life. She co-founded the Gamaliel Foundation, an international network of community organizations in the United States, South Africa and Great Britain, and served as one of the organization's primary trainers.

Mary was the sibling of a brother, Bobby, who had an intellectual and developmental disability As a result, Ms. Gonzales and her mother, Guadalupe Reyes, created Esperanza Community Services and El Valor Corporation. Both are now large organizations serving thousands of families in the Chicago area providing services from infancy through all stages of adulthood. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Arc US.

She is a Mexican-American Chicago native and a Roman Catholic. Mary is married to the co-founder of Gamaliel, Gregory Galluzzo, is the mother of four daughters and has ten grandchildren.
