Cynthia Banks

Foundation for Global Scholars

Cynthia Banks is on the faculty at the University of Colorad- Boulder Leed's Business Schoo, co-Founder and President of the Foundation for Global Scholars, and a lead organizer for the new Global Leadership League which aims to empower women in global engagement. Her consulting practice, New World Vistas, designs business and leadership strategies for higher education and beyond. From 1990-2014, Banks was the Founder and CEO of GlobaLinks Learning Abroad a global education abroad organization which has helped more than 30,000 students study or intern abroad at 120 programs worldwide. Banks is a current trainer for the NAFSA Management Development Program, has served on the NAFSA’s Board of Directors, and was Chair of the Education Abroad Knowledge Community. She sits on the board for Colorado State University Institute for Entrepreneurship and is an elected member of the International Women's Forum. A regular presenter at domestic and global education conferences. Honors include 2013 Top Three Minority/Women Owned Business in Colorado by the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce.

Shelia Houston

Co-Founder/Director

Shelia Houston has actively been involved in the field of International Education for more than twenty years.
Shelia Co-founded the Foundation for Global Scholars a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization headquartered in Denver Colorado. She is Vice President and an active member of the Board of Directors. Over the past 8 years, The Foundation has created a vibrant alumni of students and scholars as a result of its scholarship endeavors and we are proud of the Foundation’s role in building interest in the value of international education experiences. We have granted over $2 million in scholarships and helped over 2000 scholars.
Shelia co-owned and operated one of the world’s largest study abroad companies AustraLearn, later to become GlobaLinks Learning Abroad which was recently sold to ISA. With her business partner they grew GlobaLinks Learning Abroad from a start up until its global reach expanded from North America and the Pacific countries into Asia and Europe and helped more than 30,000 students study or intern abroad. Shelia was the Director of GlobaLinks Learning Abroad’s operations in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific.
