This session focuses on the policies and procedures employed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in admitting international students and scholars into the United States, including current trends and anticipated developments for the year ahead. Officials from U.S. Customs and Border Protection have been invited to participate.

Ms. James has twenty years of experience in international education and immigration law. She has a Masters in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Indiana University-Bloomington and a Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been active in NAFSA's Trainer Corps and on the International Student and Scholar Regulatory Practice Exchange Visitor subcommittee, and has presented at the state, regional, and national levels.

David Ware, a proud NAFSAn for over 30 years and former regional team member, has received numerous awards for his contributions to the organization. A frequent writer and speaker on immigration issues of interest to the higher education community, including many NAFSA regional and NAFSA National Conferences, he is also active in AILA, NACUA, AIEA, and the FBA. Many rating services and publications have favorably recognized him, and he has been repeatedly chosen by
“Who's Who International” as one of the 300 top corporate immigration attorneys in the
US. He is also a US News and World Report "Top Tier" lawyer, and was the FBA's 2017 "Lawyer of the Year." His firm, Ware|Immigration, representing over 100 institutions across the US, is one of very few with deep expertise in both F/EV issues, as well as academic EB matters.
