Jay C. Ward

Associate Director, Office of International Programs
San Francisco State University

Jay has more than 30 years of experience in IE & has held positions in international admissions, recruitment, student services/immigration advising and education abroad. At SF State since 1994, Jay serves as the Associate Director of the Office of International Programs. He has served on the NAFSA Region XII & Northern CA District teams, member of Trainer Corps & has presented at numerous NAFSA district, regional & annual conferences. Jay is also a former Fulbright participant with the IEA Program in Japan, coach with the NAFSA Academy, and NAFSA Region XII International Student & Scholar Services Knowledge Community (KC-ISSS) Liaison.

Athena M. Fulay

Fulbright Scholar Program Outreach & Recruitment Manager
IIE/Council for International Exchange of Scholars

Having lived in Europe, South-East, and Central Asia, Athena's work has focused on international education and community engagement. Prior to her work at IIE, she served as an educator with the Peace Corps in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, where her projects included developing English language curriculum and teacher training. Athena has also worked at various arts organizations, including Center Theatre Group, the Hollywood Bowl, Arena Stage, the Folger Shakespeare Library, and the DC Shorts Film Festival. Athena received her M.A. in Liberal Studies with a focus in Religious Studies and International Affairs from Georgetown University and a B.A. in European Studies with an emphasis in Art, Philosophy and Music from Loyola Marymount University. Athena has a passion for exploring different cultures, cuisines and languages. In addition to her work in international education, Athena has varying degrees of language proficiency in Filipino, German, Uzbek, Tadjik and Russian. When she is not promoting cross cultural exchanges, Athena is an active member of the Community of Sant’Egidio, and dances hula with Halau Ha’a Kea o Mokihana.

Allison Yap

Study Abroad Advisor/Assistant Faculty Specialist
University of Hawaii at Manoa Study Abroad Center

Allison Yap has worked with students at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa for 20 years, first as an Academic Advisor and since 2003, as an Assistant Faculty Specialist/Study Abroad Advisor. She is passionate about International Education, especially in providing study abroad opportunities for local Hawai‘i students, many of whom have never left their island home. Allison was selected and participated in a number of professional development opportunities for International Education, including the Familiarization Tour to Australia sponsored by the Australian Department of Education, Science & Training in 2006, the Baden-Wurttemberg Seminar sponsored by the German Ministry of Science, Research & the Arts in 2008, and the Fulbright International Education Administrators Program to the United Kingdom in 2013.

Wesley Young

Director, Services for International Students & Scholars
University of California, Davis

Wesley Young has spent over 25 years in higher education, as faculty member and administrator. He has been the Director of Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS) at the University of California, Davis since 2003. Prior to coming to Davis, he was Associate Professor of International Studies at Dominican University of California. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from UC Berkeley, and has lived, worked, and studied in a variety of cultures in both Europe and Asia.
