Learn grassroots marketing methods to promote your institution internationally. Experts share innovative techniques and new approaches that are zero to low cost, but produce impactful results. Attend this session if you have a limited or nonexistent international recruitment budget and/or represent a less well-known school.

Member Relations Director, Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East and UK
International Student Exchange Programs (ISEP)

Rosie recently became the Director of Member Relations for Asia Pacific at International Student Exchange Programs(ISEP). Prior to ISEP, she led the international admissions office in its efforts to recruit and retain international students at Ohio Northern Univeristy. In her previous role with EducationUSA, she developed innovative recruitment opportunities for the US higher education institutions such as the first EducationUSA LLM Fair Tour. As a social media enthusiast, she created the first EducationUSA LGBT Virtual Fair and other digital programming for niche markets. Rosie has worked in the field of international admissions and recruitment for more than 16 years and presented extensively on strategic recruitment. Rosie previously served as the Co-Chair of the Japan MIG; in 2017 she joined the Trainer Corps and returned as a mentor in the 2017 Diversity Impact Program.

Erica Burman

Special Projects Officer

Erica Burman is a special projects officer with the U.S. Department of State's EducationUSA program, responsible for strategic communication. Prior to joining the State Department, Erica was director of communications for the National Peace Corps Association, the alumni association for former Volunteers. Erica served in the Peace Corps in The Gambia from 1987-1989. She holds a MALD from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University and a BA in international relations from George Washington University. As an undergraduate she studied at Ludwig Maximilian Universität in Munich, Germany.

Gavin is co-founder and president of Sunrise International Education 尚易国际教育, an experiential education and media company that manages extra curricular programs, pre-professional training, and lifestyle events for tens of thousands of Chinese students. Each year, we partner with hundreds of international institutions to better engage Chinese students, leading tours to high schools and universities in 2nd and 3rd tier cities in China, and helping universities improve and localize their online, mobile, and social media presence. Additionally, we manage two youth lifestyle magazines, illumi 路明 and Acumen, as well as the television show, "Overseas Community - 留学圈" on Beijing TV. At Sunrise, we hope to break down the barrier between Chinese students and international education institutions, and to continue to offer innovative programs for those planning to study overseas. Prior to Sunrise, Gavin founded China Pathway, a study abroad "pathway program" provider, acquired by ShareWithU, as well as UExcel International Academy, an international education services provider operating centers in second tier Chinese cities, acquired by Compass Education Group. During college, Gavin founded the non-profit organization Global China Connection to bring together the next generation of US-China leaders, presenting in hundreds of schools across China and the US, and managing international youth programs including for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2010 Shanghai Expo. Gavin received his B.A. in Political Science from Columbia University, and has been a visiting fellow at the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy. An accomplished jazz pianist, Gavin is an avid reader and passionate about foreign languages.
