Deputy Executive Director

Sheila Schulte is the Deputy Executive Director of Leadership and Professional Develeopment Services at NAFSA. She has worked in the international education field for 22 years holding positions at the University of Idaho, Emory University and the Georgia Institute of Technology. She served in several different NAFSA volunteer leadership roles before joining NAFSA staff in 2011.

Marisa Atencio

Assistant Dean and Director of Global Education
Oglethorpe University

Marisa Atencio has been an active member volunteer with NAFSA since 2001. She is the Assistant Dean and Director of Global Education at Oglethorpe University leading institutional strategy and campus internationalization. She completed the NAFSA Academy in 2007, served on the Travel Subcommittee from 2012-2015, has been active Trainer Corps member since 2012, completed the MDP in 2013, served as the Region VII Scholar Regulatory Ombusdperson (2016-2018), and has presented at local, regional, and national conferences. She is passionate about international education and being an advocate for global education experiences which support students to achieve personal and academic goals.

Corrie Fisher

Senior Learning Designer
NAFSA Office Professional Learning Services

Corrinne Fisher (Corrie) is the Senior Learning Designer at NAFSA: Association of International Educators where she leads teams of subject matter experts in the development of e-learning courses, comprehensive leadership training, workshop curriculum, and webinars. A frequent presenter, Corrie has delivered training in over 30 different states and countries—and online as well. Corrie’s earlier work includes developing publications and training for Reading Is Fundamental and teaching English as a second language in Bulgaria as a Peace Corps volunteer. Corrie holds a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in the field of Mind, Brain, and Education and a B.A. in French and Spanish education from Western Michigan University.

25 years of work in International Education has confirmed for Teter Kapan, that the best outcomes are a result of putting students in the center of the work, while instituitions and professionals seek transparent, self reflective critique as a part of a continual assessment approach to program management. Leading change requires a willingness to be open to the influence of others even when it challenges ones own perspectives or approaches. Supporting staff development through evaluation tools in the community college setting is a key item in the spectum of resources available for managers. Teter believes that it can serve as a vital part of any department seeking improvements.
