Address topics such as eligibility, the bars, pre-arrival and orientation, 212(e), employment, issues around transitions, and working with dependents. Focus on the most common J categories in higher education. Basic procedural training, the trainee category, or foreign medical graduates are not covered. Participants should have working knowledge and understanding of immigration and J-1 visa regulations and procedures.

Charter Morris is currently Director of International Student & Scholar Services at The University of Alabama, where he has served since 2012. Charter is the PDSO and RO and his main areas of focus are J-1 scholar advising and F-1/J-1 student advising.
Charter began his career in international education in 2001 at The University of Mississippi where he worked until 2008. From 2008 to 2010, Charter worked as part of a USAID Project focused on institutional internationalization at American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and from 2010 until 2012 he served as the Assistant Director for Immigration and Scholar Services at Syracuse University.
Charter is currently the Chair-Elect to NAFSA Region VII, a member of NAFSA Trainer Corps, and serves on the board of the Alabama Association of International Educators. Charter previously served as KCISSS Liaison for NAFSA Region VII and was on the chair stream for the Mississippi Association of International Educators.

Jin Zhang has been an international student adviser for more than 19 years and has advised scholars for over 12 years. She has in-depth knowledge of F and J regulations, SEVP/DoS policies, SEVIS functionalities, and procedures. She was on the training team for the NAFSA CEP workshop J Regulations- Intermediate at 2013 Region III conference; F-1 Student Advising-Intermediate at 2012 Region III &VII conference; J Regulations: Advanced at NAFSA's 2010 Annual Conference, J-1 Advising for Beginners at the 2010 Texas State Meeting, and F-1 Student Advising for Beginners at the 2008 NAFSA Region III Conference and the 2009 Texas State Meeting. She has been a co-presenter on various topics related to advising at NAFSA annual, regional, and state conferences. Jin served as chair of the Houston Forum from 2008-2009. She has strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills and has liaised with government agencies, professional organizations, and University of Houston academic communities.

Tina Rousselot de Saint Ceran serves as Director for International Student and Scholar Services at Georgia Institute of Technology overseeing immigration and support services for international students, scholars, and families. Tina holds a Master of Business Administration from Clemson University and a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages from Austin Peay State University. She is an active national leader in NAFSA, the Association of International Educators, and was recently elected 2019 Chair-Elect for the Knowledge Community of International Student and Scholar Services. Tina currently serves as the NAFSA International Scholar Advising Network Leader and is an active NAFSA Trainer Corps member.
