Janet Gao is currently a scholar at American Institutes for Research and a doctoral student in Higher Education Administration program at The George Washington University. Previously, she worked as the Assistant Director for International Students and Scholars Services at Drexel University. A large part of her role was interfacing with approximately 4000 foreign nationals from over 117 countries, and working to help acclimatize them to life in the United States, while helping them navigating the US compliance system. Having come from an international background herself, she was also able to help other faculty and professional staffs without international backgrounds to effectively navigate tasks, issues, and problems faced by the international population, and to improve their strategic and actionable approaches to managing student populations and policy. Janet graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master degree in Intercultural Communication.
