Xi Yu works at the International Student and Scholar Services at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities as an Evaluation Specialist conducting evaluation and research projects on international student experience, integration, and academic success. Xi’s professional expertise focuses on international student engagement, internationalizing campus and curriculum, and intercultural initiatives in higher education settings. Xi holds master of science degree in applied psychology, and PhD degree in organizational leadership, policy and development.

*Currently Assoc. Director of ISSS overseeing counseling and advising, related programs, internships, crisis management, and HR
*M.A. & Ph.D. in counseling, with focus on international students
*Currently conducting research on post-election experiences of international students.
*Past research on international students includes their academic experiences, career needs and best practices, and Korean student experiences.
*Publications on international students' academic experiences include NAFSA's "US Culture Series: US Classroom Culture" and dissertation.
*Authored book chapter on academic success of international students in "Coming from Abroad"
*Integration of international and domestic students - Member of advisory committee which oversaw UMN best practices research on integration of international and domestic students (2014-2015), co-led Integration session at 2015 and 2016 NAFSA Annual Conferences, oversee ISSS programs designed to promote integration.
*Participated in staff exchange with Nagoya University, Japan in 2008, and with Australian National University in 2014.
*Wrote curriculum and chaired national workshops for beginning international student advisers.
*Past Trainer Corps member.
*NAFSA national & regional presentations on international students.
*Was international exchange student in Germany.
