Zahra Ahmed (Ph.D., MSW) has over 20 years’ experience in the fields of civic engagement, international education, and community organizing. Dr. Ahmed has served as the founding Director of International Student Excellence Programs at UCI for the past 6 years. During this time, she has led the creation of three ISEP programs: International Peer Group, Intercultural Citizenship, and Global Scholars. Each program serves over 1000 international students and over 500 domestic students each year. Zahra also serves as the CEO for ONECommunity Consulting, a community based consulting firm specializing in youth engagement and leadership development. Zahra earned her Masters degree in Social Work from Georgia State University with a focus on community partnerships and her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine with a focus on civic and community engagement. She is a state-certified Conflict Mediator and she is trained in Diversity & Inclusion, Cultural Competence, Teaching Men of Color, and Restorative Justice.
