Cathy Raymond is Executive Director of the Alliance for International Women's Rights (www.aiwr.org). AIWR supports women leaders and future women leaders in developing countries, with a current focus on Afghanistan and Nepal. AIWR does this by creating connections between Afghan and Nepali women and skilled professionals in developed countries through long-distance English and Mentor Programs.
Cathy Raymond is also Assistant Director of English Language Programs at Washington University in St Louis. She holds an M.A. in Germanic Studies and an M.A. in TESOL and Applied Linguistics from Indiana University in Bloomington. She has studied and worked abroad in Germany, Afghanistan, Nepal, and Russia and has held positions at Indiana University, Maryville University, University of Missouri, Munich University in Germany, and Washington University in St Louis. Her expertise includes ESL/EAP/ESP teaching, program development, materials development, and teacher training. She has also worked for the State Department as an English Language Specialist in Nepal, and she will travel to Tajikistan as a Fulbright Scholar in 2018.
