New Minor, New Participants: Attracting Varied Audiences to Study Abroad

In an effort to increase the number of students studying abroad, the International Business Flagship Program at University of North Florida created a minor that encourages non-business majors to participate in our programs.

Alyssa Kyff earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Education from Ashland University and shortly after graduating, she taught high school Spanish. She graduated in May 2015 with her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration from Kent State University. As an undergraduate student, Alyssa studied abroad twice – first, during a summer in Cuernavaca, Mexico and then for a semester in Alicante, Spain. Alyssa highly values her experiences abroad so much that she has decided to make a career out of it. Alyssa is a study abroad advsior for semester exchange programs in the College of Business at the University of North Florida.

Erika Gallion is a first-year Study Abroad Advisor at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. Erika works in the International Business Flagship Program, an Academic Affairs unit that hosts their own study abroad programs, exchange programs, and major/minor. Her main duties involve promoting and recruiting for short-term study abroad programs and welcoming in incoming exchange students from partner institutions. Her main interests in the field are diversity abroad and finding innovative ways to make study abroad accessible.
