Steelcase Active Learning Center Grant recipient, Claremont Colleges Library (CCL) have embarked on project-based renovations that strategically demonstrate the powerful impact spaces have on learning. Implementing a user-centered, universal design approach to align with strategic initiatives, CCL is integrating spaces which enable collaborative, experimental and project-based learning. This presentation will highlight a variety of space designs, including the creation of a Collaborative Commons, Digital Tool Shed and a laboratory for hands-on exploration and analysis of Special Collections. Speakers will showcase how the deliberate and thoughtful implementation of space design has a direct impact on the variety of learning opportunities enabled by those designs.
