AHCA/NCAL Life Safety Committee Update: How Does/Can the Committee Help You!

Tuesday, October 17
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Location: Breakers A-C
CE: Nurses: 0.0 | NAB: 1.0

The Life Safety Committee would like to update everyone on the progress made during 2016-2017. The information learned includes discussions with CMS and the results of CMS survey efforts over the past year. The past year is significant because CMS adopted the 2012 Life Safety Code and Healthcare Facilities Code. The committee tackled issues including the new fire door survey requirements, completing an NFPA 99 risk assessment, and a multitude of survey concerns that were raised by committee members. Other topics that were addressed include:
• Door murals for memory care
• K-tags with criteria above and beyond that required by the adopted codes
• FSES concerns for facilities with construction type issues
• Electrical inspection concerns
