Marco is a veterinarian dedicated to equine surgery and lameness. He completed his initial veterinary education in Brazil and subsequently obtained a Masters degree (also in Brazil), focused on gastrointestinal surgery in horses and a PhD from Virginia Tech (USA) on equine gastroenterology, fluid therapy and nutritional support. Most recently, Marco completed a residency in equine surgery at the University of Missouri, U.S.A.
Marco has worked as a large animal/equine surgeon, teacher and/or researcher at several institutions in Brazil and in the U.S.A.
His research interests include equine surgery, lameness, gait analysis, gastroenterology, fluid therapy and nutritional support.
