Jason Bleedorn, DVM, MS, DACVS-SA, Clinical Assistant Professor of Small Animal Surgery at the University of Wisconsin.
My educational background includes: DVM from the University of Illinois in 2005, rotating internship at Purdue University, surgery internship at Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center, and a small animal surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin in 2010. I completed a MS degree in Biomedical Sciences in 2015 with a project focused on investigation of mechanically-induced signaling events involved in bone adaptation. I am currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in Small Animal Orthopedics at the UW-Madison. I provide clinical service in Orthopedics at UW Veterinary Care, instruction to residents, interns and DVM students, and conduct clinical research within the Comparative Orthopaedic Research Laboratory. My research interests comprise several clinical, translational, and educational focused topics. These include biomechanics and augmentation of fracture healing, imaging assessment and treatment of bone deformities, 3D printing for surgical planning, limb salvage of bone tumors, and mechanisms of cruciate ligament disease in dogs. Educational interests include development of instructional tools and assessment metrics for surgical training, resident recruitment, and clinic efficiency. I have published peer-reviewed articles, contributed book chapters, and presented research abstracts and seminars in these areas of emphasis. I am also involved in leadership and continuing education at the UW-Madison including the Teaching Academy and nationally through the ACVS. Outside of work, I compete in road, cyclocross and mountain bike national level events and am an avid rock climber.
