Dr. Frank Steffen is an ECVN board-certfied veterinary neurologist. Since 2010 he is service head of the section of neurology/neurosurgery at the Vetsuisse faculty of the University of Zurich, Switzerland.
He received his veterinary degree from the University of Berne, Switzerland, in 1991. Following that he completed a residency in neurology at the Institute of animal neurology at the University of Berne in 1996. For a few years he was working as consultant for neurology and neurosurgery in private and academic institutions.
Dr. Steffen's research interests include all aspects of veterinary neurology with a focus on diagnosis and treatment of degenerative conditions of the vertebral column and intervertebral discs. More recently, his investigations are dealing with regenerative strategies to treat intervertebral disc disease in a translational context..
Dr. Steffen has authored or co-authored more than 80 journal articles and book-chapters and is leading an ECVN residency training program at the Vetsuisse faculty.

Dr. Ronaldo C. da Costa, DMV, MSc, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM - Neurology
Dr. da Costa is a Professor and Service Head of Neurology and Neurosurgery at The Ohio State University. He is co-editor of the Practical Guide to Canine and Feline Neurology (Dewey and da Costa, 2016), and the consulting editor of the Neurology Section of the 8th edition of Ettinger and Feldman’s Internal Medicine book. He was also the Guest Editor of a Veterinary Clinics of North America on Spinal Diseases. He has an active research program on spinal diseases and has published over 90 scientific articles and book chapters. Dr. da Costa has received 28 awards for teaching, research and academic excellence, including the Pfizer-Norden Teaching Excellence Award and the Excellence in Graduate Education award, both at Ohio State.
