Elbow & Shoulder Arthroscopy and Unique Intra-Articular Approaches

A focused laboratory on canine elbow and shoulder arthroscopy and two unique approaches to the shoulder and elbow joints that can be used in conjunction with arthroscopic techniques to allow joint resurfacing and intra-articular implantation. The format of short, cutting edge lectures and two wet-lab sessions over an eight-hour period will cover relevant and practical information. Lectures and laboratory demonstrations will cover:
• shoulder & elbow arthroscopy instrumentation
• maximizing intra-articular visualization
• manipulation and debridement of intra-articular structures
• examination and treatment of joint pathology
• concurrent resurfacing techniques for the cartilage deficient joint



ACVS does not endorse or promote the use of any product/service of commercial entities. Equipment used in these laboratories is for demonstration and teaching purposes only with the intent of enhancing the learning experience.

Laboratory fees increase June 29. Last day to register for a laboratory is August 10. ACVS reserves the right to cancel any laboratory that does not meet minimum registrations by August 10. If the laboratory is cancelled by this date, registrants will be notified via email no later than August 17 and all paid registration fees will be refunded. Registrants for laboratories are advised not to make airline and hotel reservations until after August 17 to make sure selected laboratory is not canceled. ACVS will not reimburse for travel in the case of a cancellation due to low registrations.

Cancellation/Change Policy
An administrative fee of $75 will be charged for each item changed within your registration. To cancel your full meeting registration, a $75 fee will be assessed. Requested cancellations after the deadlines (laboratories after August 10; meeting registration after September 7) will only be given in cases of extenuating circumstances (e.g., death in the family, medical emergency) and must be supported by written documentation. Allow 30 days for processing refund requests. All refunds and changes must be requested in writing by mail, fax, or email:

Dr. Peter Lotsikas specializes in restoring function to performance and working dogs with sports-related injuries. He is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and by the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Lotsikas graduated with a BS degree in Biology from Virginia Tech and a DVM degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. He then completed a general small animal internship at Kansas State University, followed by a surgical internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center. He received his formal surgical residency training at Iowa State University. In 2015, Dr. Lotsikas founded Skylos Sports Medicine with his wife, Dr. F. Lotsikas, in Ellicott City, MD. Skylos provides a concierge level of client service with its comprehensive orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, and rehabilitation team. Skylos opened its second location in Frederick, MD in February of 2017, and continues to serve a growing patient population.

Dr. Lotsikas serves as a veterinary surgical consultant for Arthrex Vet Systems and is a national instructor in arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery. Previously, he was on the medical education advisory board for Zoetis and has taught on behalf of Synthes Vet. He also served on the Board of the Western Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, and is currently the veterinary representative on the Oversight Committee for MedChi, the Maryland State Medical Society. In 2017, he was named the Maryland Distinguished Veterinarian of the year. He has contributed to numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, and recently served as section chief/author for the chapter on orthopedic disorders of the hind limb for the second edition of Canine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.
