Without a doubt, there is significant discussion around the growing use of blockchain and its expanded role in the payments space. This panel as part of the ETA blockchain working group will be considering the role of blockchain and its implications for furthering decentralization of the sharing economy, faster more efficient payments, real-time-settlements, and KYC along with announcing opportunities to participate in the working group. The decentralized distributed ledger evolution will inevitably present and pose new models and issues for the legacy financial system and its value transfer process. Moreover, blockchain presents a new model for security based on the increased trust utilizing the underpinning blockchain technology. As the payments ecosystem evolves will blockchain emerge as a true disruptor for the acquiring segment? This panel will address these and other issues.

Bailey L. Reutzel

Colorado Springs, Colorado

Hailing from the Midwest, Bailey Reutzel headed east in 2012 to cover the financial services industry, specializing in payments and bitcoin. An itinerant at heart, though, she left her desk job in 2015 to spend six months driving the contiguous 48 US states while writing exposes on the political culture and economic mindset of Americans. That project, Moneytripping is currently being turned into a novel and remains an outlet for Bailey to rant on the intersection of finance, technology and politics. Her work has appeared on The Economist microsites and in CoinDesk, Quartz, American Banker and a handful of other industry publications.
