Format: Academy Course

Take the mystery out of your Dynamics GP upgrade. Dangerous? Never, if you follow the proven methodology that practically ensures success. This course will emphasize the procedures that take risk out of the equation. Learn how to approach the project with confidence and minimal disruption to your end users. Although we will be upgrading to GP 2016 during the lab exercise in this class, the methodology and steps for upgrading to an older version such as GP 2015 remain the same, so this class is applicable to all GP versions.
This class is open to any GP user.
We will discuss the importance of planning and what that entails. We will see how performing a ‘test’ upgrade can take the mystery out of the process and prepare you in most ways for the ‘production’ upgrade. We will analyze the pros and cons of upgrading to a new server or doing one in-place. We will discuss end-user acceptance testing and what that might look like. Training on the new version is critical to end-user acceptance. We will cover what elements are typically included and what might be optional. Finally, we will cover the ‘production’ upgrade and go-live and how that plays out in an organization.
•Effectively plan their upgrade
•Understand the procedures required to perform a successful ‘test’ and ‘production’ upgrade
•Anticipate end-user acceptance testing and training needs

Sr. Dynamics GP & Coupa Implementation Consultant
Rob has been passionate about technology and fascinated with learning new things about computers since he was an infant. At the age of 18 I started my career in the IT industry working for Packard Bell doing technical support in their call center. My career progressed to installing networks for small businesses, and later becoming a system administrator for a software company in Las Vegas called ALDEC. It was there that I realized I wanted to take the jump from being a hardware and networking type of role to a more client focused, application support specialist. I learned SQL server, and the Goldmine CRM software, and implemeted it for my company. From there I moved to San Diego and worked for another software company as their CRM admin, and later began working as a GP System admin for another software company. I have been working with Dynamics GP now for 15 years, and a GP consultant for almost 4 years for Armanino LLP. I specialize in the back-end technical side of the application, but I've also learned a thing or two along the way on the front end and can implement the GL, AP, and AR modules, fixed assets, and workflow. I also specialize in financial reporting in Management Reporter, and helping companies upgrade their systems to the latest version of GP. Recently I became a Coupa implementation consultant for Armanino so I share my responsibilities between GP and Coupa roles at Armanino. I am passionate about procurement and expense report cloud solutions and how they can help companies save millions of dollars by automating the processes and putting policies in place behind the process. When I'm not busy working with GP. I am a passionate road cyclist outdoors, and I am an instructor for 24 hour fitness teaching indoor Spin classes. I also enjoy music and DJing, and have performed at several weddings and parties. I believe a well rounded background is the key to success in any industry.
