PowerApps, Microsoft Flow, and the Common Data Service (CDS) are three areas that allow you and your organization to extend the functionality of Dynamics 365 that include:
â€¢ Creating targeted applications that connect directly to your Dynamics 365 data.
â€¢ Facilitate connections with other data sources.
In this course, students will have an opportunity to get real hands on experience with PowerApps, Microsoft Flow, and the Common Data Service. We will start with the basics and core concepts, work through multiple scenarios, and ultimately creating working connected applications before the end of the session.
Some of the topics included in this course will include:
â€¢ An overview of the Business Application platform as it pertains to Dynamics 365. We will review the basic components of PowerApps, Microsoft Flow, and CDS, as well as explore how to deploy them.
â€¢ Review the different options for connecting your applications to Dynamics 365; including how to connect to services, and work with the built-in gallery and form controls.
â€¢ Discuss how to work with core PowerApps tasks and functionality, including how to filter records, combine fields, work with related records, customize the application settings, and more.
â€¢ Explore the core concepts used in Microsoft Flow. We will examine how to use the Microsoft Flow designer, work with triggers and actions, and examine how PowerApps and Microsoft flow work together to create a complete solution.
â€¢ Understand the Common Data Service. We will look at how it fits into the platform, examine security, detail what the core data model looks like out of the box, and finally how you can customize and extend the it.

Derik is a Microsoft MVP. He has been working with Microsoft Dynamics CRM since version 3.0 and has extensive experience with pre-sales, business process implementation, custom development, and system design. You may have seen Derik on the Dynamics Learning Portal. He is the instructor for several courses including Customization and Configuration.
Derik is a regular contributor to CRM Tip of Day http://crmtipoftheday.com/. The website is run and managed by several Dynamics CRM MVP’s and consultants. Tips are posted every day, and are based on past experiences and new features. As part of Tip of Day, Derik runs their YouTube Channel. He routinely delivers Microsoft Dynamics CRM Advanced level training around the world. He is one of a handful of instructors to be selected to teach courses for Microsoft's Dynamics CRM Enterprise Academy which focuses on delivering level 300 content to the Partner Community. He also is a lead trainer for Microsoft’s internal Technical Sales People. He delivers these Immersion boot camp’s several times a year that help onboard Microsoft’s TSP’s to Dynamics CRM and help them demo in the field.
