The session will be an interactive discussion with the audience to discuss the leading indirect tax challenges companies are facing on a daily basis. The main focus of the discussion will be on the areas the tax jurisdictions focus on such as nexus, exemption certificates, cross border transactions and other challenging topics.

Daniel J. O’Rourke has over twenty five years of experience in state and local taxation and over twenty years of experience assisting companies support their global sales, use and VAT (“indirect”) tax requirements with their E.R.P. systems. Mr. O’Rourke is a Director in the Professional and Client Services group for CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business.

Before CCH, Mr. O’Rourke was a Director for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (‘PwC’) in Chicago for fourteen years. In addition to his experience in the State Tax Consulting practice at PwC, Mr. O’Rourke spent three years at Deloitte & Touche Tax Technologies, L.L.C. where he codeveloped CORPSales, the first Windows based sales/use tax system and worked with many different clients' systems.

In Mr. O’Rourke’s capacity at CCH, he has managed and participated in many different systems implementations including Microsoft GP and other Microsoft Eneterprise Resource Planning ("ERPs"), Peoplesoft, Oracle, JD Edwards and SAP. Mr. O'Rourke has extensive ERP technical experience and would be happy to discuss your ERP tax technical issues.

Mr. O’Rourke’s experience combines substantial knowledge of sales/use tax law in addition to systems knowledge and expertise. Mr. O’Rourke has lectured many times on issues surrounding the integration of ERPs with tax systems.
