The Solar Training Network: Your Source for Solar Recruiting

The Solar Training Network is a new program funded by the Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative that aims to build workforce development for the solar industry by building connections between job seekers, solar employers and training providers. The program recently launched a brand new online platform, www.SolarTrainingUSA.org, where companies can create profiles to promote their hiring opportunities and recruit highly-qualified workers – all for free! Learn what benefits the Solar Training Network offers and how you can get involved to grow your workforce and improve our industry’s capacity for job-creation.

Colin Silver

Colin is originally from Northampton, Massachusetts. He earned a B.A. in Global Environmental Policy at American University, and has lived in DC ever since. Before joining SEIA, Colin worked as a consultant for USAID on a project that aimed to curb climate change by reducing deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries. As SEIA’s Senior Manager of Digital Communications, Colin manages and administers the SEIA website, executes online advocacy campaigns, develops and executes email marketing strategies, and enhances SEIA's other communications and marketing efforts. In his spare time, Colin enjoys cooking, singing and cheering on the Red Sox!

Roxie Brown

Program Director
The solar foundation

Roxie Brown is the Program Director of the Solar Training Network, a program administered by The Solar Foundation and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative. The Solar Training Network is a nationwide solar workforce development program designed increase access to solar training and create a steady workforce pipeline to meet the needs of the burgeoning solar industry. As the program lead, Roxie is responsible for program development, member recruitment, chairing the Solar Jobs Strategy Commission, and ensuring overall program success.

Before coming to TSF, Roxie spent four years working for the Oregon based American solar manufacturer, SolarWorld. She managed their national solar installer network and directed their annual dealer conferences. Roxie brings with her a lifelong passion for renewable energy and energy education, stemming from an early childhood experience that inspired her to “change the world” through alternative energy advocacy. She has a BA from UC Davis in International Relations with an emphasis in environmental affairs and enjoys writing, weight training, mentoring youth, and guest speaking at schools about renewable energy in her free time.
