Middle Grades

Roundtable

Hands-On Socratic Seminars

Friday, November 10
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Location: Exhibit Hall Roundtable 3

Imagine a class in which students are rewarded not for producing the right answer, but instead for pondering the right question. Imagine the excitement of an open-ended, student-centered discussion with a gifted teacher-approved approach. Keeping the middle school learner in mind, a "hands-on" Socratic Seminar provides a more structured environment than a traditional seminar, allowing for more scaffolding and success for the younger learner. Get every student in on the action with techniques for a whole-class, student-led discussion for the divergent thinker in any content area. See actual student seminars, and get the tools to create this extraordinary experience in the classroom.
