How to Provide Enrichment Opportunities for Busy Gifted Middle Schoolers in a Hybrid Format

Friday, November 10
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Location: Exhibit Hall Roundtable 5

A challenge for many middle school programs is that the students' schedules are heavy with other activities that are equally important at this age as students are achieving an identity.

“Hybrid Courses” incorporate face-to-face meetings but mostly take place online, allowing students the flexibility to engage when convenient.

Presenters share their insights as to how the courses were designed to meet the needs of gifted middle schoolers, including social/emotional concerns; explain efforts to create a collaborative, communicative community; and suggest ways in which these courses can be adapted for use in schools and school districts.
