This presentation will share how, for the past 6 years, Spout Springs School of Enrichment in Hall County has used the Schoolwide Enrichment Model to identify and develop student interests, increase student engagement, give all students a chance to shine, and to promote a love of learning. Specific topics to be discussed include implementation, schedules, Enrichment Clusters, SEM-Reading, and Type I, II, and III enrichment activities.

Leigh Brown

Teacher of the Gifted / Enrichment Specialist
Hall County Schools

After teaching elementary school for 21 years, Leigh Brown has spent the last 11 years involved in gifted education in Hall County, Georgia. She is currently the Lead Elementary Gifted Teacher for Hall County School District. She serves as the Enrichment Coordinator at Spout Springs School of Enrichment (SEM school) where she is responsible for Enrichment Clusters, STEM Lab and Type III Investigative Projects. Mrs. Brown is one of the gifted endorsement teachers in Hall County through Pioneer RESA and serves as the Awards Chair for the Georgia Association of Gifted Children. She believes in Renzulli’s philosophy that “A Rising Tide Lifts All Ships” and loves how SEM helps to develop the talents of all students. Mrs. Brown has an Ed.S. in Middle Grades Math & Science and will finisher her leadership endorsement in December 2017. She has been married to Shane Brown for 25 years, has a daughter, and a grandson.
