Gifted teens and young adults are more stressed than ever, overwhelming mental health services at most high schools and universities. These students appear to be coping well so they often fall through the cracks. Wellness coaching, based on different aspects of happiness and well-being, may be one creative approach to addressing these concerns. Learning goals for the session include describing wellness coaching, demonstrating a simple coaching model to use with gifted teens and young adults, and using a case study approach to demonstrate understanding of motivational interviewing. Participants explore a case study to practice motivational interviewing and a simple coaching model guaranteed to help their students achieve their goals.
