This session draws on the traditions of mindfulness, dance movement therapy, and art therapy to integrate movement into psychotherapy (or the classroom) with gifted and creative adolescents. Movement has a variety of applications to psychotherapy, including but not limited to goal setting, coping, communication, expression, and fostering mindfulness. Nonverbal communication is a powerful tool. Together we explore how movement may unlock new pathways, lead to new insights, or soothe when words are insufficient. This presentation includes an experiential component of one of the applications of movement utilized in our lab for goal setting.
