We Are Teachers
In this session, educators learn how to incorporate different types of poetry and poetic elements into their instruction. Teaching poetry allows access to complex ideas that can be addressed in the often short time span that GT educators have with students. Sharing of inexpensive and free web based resources as well as print resources encourages educators to integrate poetry into their everyday planning and be ready to implement on Monday morning. Educators learn first hand how to use different forms of poetry to cover current events, introduce Kaplan’s depth and complexity icons, increase self-efficacy and self-awareness, and integrate poetry into student’s everyday lives.
