Research continues to underscore the proposition that non-cognitive factors play a significant role in student success. We know social skills such as cooperation, empathy, and responsibility have a demonstrated impact on student performance and achievement. How can educators cultivate these skills in an academic setting and provide feedback and assessment to aid in students’ continued growth? Through the case study of a service-learning and experiential education program for gifted students, this session demonstrates strategies for promoting psychosocial skills in gifted learners and introduces tools educators can implement in their own classrooms.
