Curating Content Through Podcasting

Friday, November 10
1:15 PM - 2:15 PM
Location: 213 A

When teaching gifted students about research, we must teach them to curate––select, organize, and present––information. A podcast structure brings creativity and clarity to research. Developing a podcast script helps gifted kids identify authentic purpose and audience. Gifted children have a tendency to come at a topic from many directions, and podcast creation helps them learn how to develop research strategy and the art of communicating content. Through this practice, gifted students will learn podcast interviewing techniques and how to develop their own style and voice. They also learn the technical aspects of podcasting, which builds problem solving skills and pride in a product well-planned and produced.
