Global conflicts and injustices can take a heavy emotional toll on gifted children, who often feel powerless to effect real change. The humanities classroom can be a starting point for the development of ethical leadership and critical citizenship, preparing students to engage meaningfully with a broken world. Intentional curriculum design and meaningful learning strategies can empower gifted students to understand the context and causes of international disputes and controversies while equipping them with tools to propose meaningful reforms and solutions. This session outlines discussion strategies, games, simulations, reading and writing activities, and critical thinking exercises that will bring issues of international importance into your classroom in a productive way.
