FOMO, It's For Real: Breaking the Predictable Loop Cycle of Creatives, 2e's, and the Highly Gifted

Friday, November 10
3:45 PM - 4:45 PM
Location: 207 A

In this session, we explore Predictable Loops and the impact they have on creative processes. Triggers and strategies based on the work of Dabrowski are presented to help gifted and 2e students navigate their overexcitabilities and intensities. By giving consideration to triggers such as fear of missing out (FOMO), gaps in conceptual knowledge, and a focus on deficits, stakeholders can help children learn to recognize the onset of a Predictable Loop and circumvent their anxiety or perseveration so their creativity is not impeded. Participants leave with the framework for a strengths-based model to ensure their students never allow FOMO to inhibit their creative output.
