2 - "We Are Groot": Professional Peer Consultation as Vital Practice

Saturday, Nov 11
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

In this presentation, we describe the formation and maintenance of a peer consultation group for practitioners dedicated to counseling the gifted. We share how our seven-year-old network has not only supported our best practices in assessment and therapy, but also promoted career specialization, prevented burnout, and sustained our gifted advocacy, training, and other community outreach initiatives. This session provides attendees with strategies, guidelines, and enthusiastic encouragement for developing their own peer consultation groups, both to maintain healthy independent private practice for gifted specialists, and to promote group dissemination of their knowledge and passion about giftedness with the greater community of counselors. We are all stronger together than apart.
