68 - Research Findings on the Lived Experiences and Perspectives of Mothers Raising Gifted and Talented Children

Findings from this qualitative case study illustrate distinctly defining experiences and perceptions of mothers currently raising GT children as well as factors affecting and influencing perspectives, family and societal dynamics, and parenting self-efficacy. Informant narratives enhance audience awareness of social, emotional, and educational factors influential to these lived experiences.

Mary Hidalgo, Ph.D., has 17 years experience teaching and advocating for gifted youth. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on gifted and talented education. Her current research interests are in the lived experiences of parents raising gifted and talented children. Dr. Hidalgo offers her research as a platform to give voice to these parents. Her scholarship interests center on this platform and further advances into the journey of gifted and talented children and their parents.
